We just added to the Adafruit Eagle library, an Arduino package! now you can make shields and custom projects with ease
check it out at http://www.ladyada.net/library/pcb/eaglelibrary.html and download from github http://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Eagle-Library

Adafruit publishes a wide range of writing and video content, including interviews and reporting on the maker market and the wider technology world. Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.

  1. Please add another arduino package with the double headers, so that we can stack shields without expensive stackable header sets!

  2. victor, you can grab the file from github and change the package pretty easily to meet your custom project needs 🙂

  3. This has really been needed for a long time. Thanks for doing this!

  4. Darned nice timing! – I was about to go and try and make my own 🙂 Thanks!

  5. Great! Thanks!

  6. That is cool, now how do I use it with Fritzing ?
Eagle is way too complex for my needs and I like the Breadboard view for project documentation.

  7. hi folks
can anyone tell me how to work with this library? when i download it an get it into the lib-folder of eagle it will generate a message, that there is invalid data in the file adafruit.lbr. i work with a german version of eagle. i think i am getting crazy. do i have to paticipate the github-thing? is there no easier solution?

    thx for your reply

  8. having the same problems as etiam (above)
are we installing the library incorrectly?

    THANKS

  9. Using Eagle 5.9.0, Adafruit library gives “Invalid data in file” message

  10. Here’s how to crack the problem.

If you right click and do save as on the adafruit.lbr link, you get the whole page as an XML document in your saved file.

If you click on the link, it opens up the library in an iframe as a lot of gibberish. Then click on the “raw” link in the iframe header. You now have the adafruit.lbr file being displayed in your browser window. In Firefox, right click and Save As all files with the name adafruit.lbr.

Eagle should now be able to open it and recognize it as an Eagle library…

  11. And Lady Ada, keep up the good work!

This and three other libraries are doing a great job of covering my needs.

  12. Heh, or even easier yet, at the top of the page

    adafruit / Adafruit-Eagle-Library Watch * Fork * Download Source

Click on download source, it will ask if you want it as a zip or gz file and extract. The shiny is not where the loot is buried github was designed by a crafty D&D GM…

To get yourself on an RSS feed for Adafruit, create your github account, log in, click the watch button, go back to your account and grab the RSS feed…

  13. Very nice, but could it be that the Digital 0-7 is just slightly off-grid, compared to the Power and Analog pins? Shouldn’t those 3 all be on the same ‘100 mil’ grid?

I’m not referring to the infamous change-up between D7 and D8.

To see what I mean, try dropping this shield over the eagle pcb for Arduino 2009.
