Minamo – A Touch Screen on Water

Japanese artist Taichi Inoue created this new interface. He writes:

It is difficult to say that the interface of mechanical materials like a keyboard , a mouse and so on is very suitable for man.
So I made the Minamo interface.
“Minamo” means “Surface of water” in Japanese.
Water is the most intimate material for human body.
And I decided to make a touch screen interface on water surface.

  1. Esthetically pleasing, but your finger tips would get all wrinkled.

    Needs some work to implement the keyboard function and multi-touch.

  2. Interesting as a concept. Seems a bit sluggish though. Any idea how he was tracking the finger movements?
