Who makes the new Apple rechargeable batteries? We think it’s SANYO (eneloop).

  • The SANYO eneloops are made in Japan and also 1900 mAh 1.2v
  • The Apple batteries are made in Japan and also 1900 mAh 1.2v

According to the candlepower forums SANYO uses a white top, the Apple batteries use a black top.

We don’t think Apple started manufacturing these in Japan, we think it’s more likely they licensed the eneloop from SANYO and re-branded them. The charger is made in China, but not the batteries. We’ll see what other clues we can dig up.
