Court Rejects Warrantless GPS Tracking @ Electronic Frontier Foundation. Good work EFF!

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit today firmly rejected government claims that federal agents have an unfettered right to install Global Positioning System (GPS) location-tracking devices on anyone’s car without a search warrant.

Guess folks won’t need to make Wavebubbles any longer 🙂

  2. It only talks about installing devices. Does anyone know if they still just hand over gps data from cell phones?

  3. In New Zealand anyone can install tracking devices on anyone elses car legally, “Currently it is not against the law for a suspicious partner to download and install GPS tracking information on to a cellphone, or for a journalist to install a hidden audio recording device on a car.” – http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/3381293/Tighten-privacy-law-boundaries-says-review
