Some times insperation comes right in the middle of a project that, well side tracks you. I had seen a documentary film on the “Three Toed Sloth”. I was working on X-2‘s arms and hands and it hit me. This has three fingers, it’s slow and it could very easily have 4 hands. This would not only test X-2 as a climbing platform but I never built a Quaddra-ped. Why not as they say, “kill two projects with one stone”. A quad that can walk and climb ladders even upside down, like a rock climber under a roof. The untimate all terrain walker?
Built out of Lego NXT Mindstorm components, the X-4 is an amateur project that shows professional level daring. Watch the quadruped bot slowly climb its way into the hall of fame in the video below. Did I mention it’s nicknamed the ’sloth’?
and vintage Journey as the soundtrack — bold move.
