OSHW Logo Selected!

The results of the public votes for the OSHW logo are in! Almost 9000 people voted, and the community selected “Golden Orb” by Macklin Chaffee as the OSHW Logo v1.0 (submitted on Feb 11th, 2011). Congratulations Golden Orb, thank you all for voting! If you support the OSHW Definition 1.0, you can GO AHEAD and Apply the OSHW Definition and logo to you projects and circuits. Here’s to another great day for Open Hardware!

We love this logo, it shows how it’s related to open source software (OSI) – and it has gears. Adafruit will be putting this on all of our boards going forward and also adding it to the product pages to indicate a project is open source hardware.

Next up, licenses!

  1. Looks a lot like the OpenVPN logo. Same keyhole pattern surrounded by a circle.

  2. There needs to be an eagle part for this.

  3. there is/will be later today, check the OSHW forums.

  4. EAGLE .ulp file to draw Open Source Hardware “Golden Orb” logo, in various sizes, on multiple layers, etc. Easily customizable.
