Now that you’ve finished stenciling, you’ll want to clean up! Paste can get everywhere, especially when doing a lot of boards and the paste is liquidy. We recycle our paste (putting it back into the pot) even though its suggested not to do that. (If we ever go thru a pot a day maybe we wont have to but paste is pretty expensive!) Then we wipe down the scrapers, stencil and area using SMT stencil wipes which are totally awesome and make clean up really easy. They’re also good for cleaning off a board if/when you have a messy stencil paste deposit and want to redo it.

I noticed just the other day that my local CVS drugstore carries wipes like these saturated with 91% IPA for $3 for a container of 100. Not sure how much these task-specific wipes are, but if they are much more than that, it might be time to try the local option!
(hopefully lint and the non-IPA constituent of the CVS wipes are acceptable)
I’ve never used these, but I’d like to give them a try…but at $20 a pop, maybe I’ll stick to IPA and a toothbrush.
Actually, I’m betting there is a low cost alternative? Maybe? Hmmmm. Maybe something made for makeup removal? Or baby wipes? Hand sanitizer?
Good tip! Thanks for the info. 🙂
