I really like this effect using the kinect. It looks like a lot can be done with it, and what is done in this video is really nice. The ultimate use of the Kinect in a music Video would be to have the whole person in the virtual world. Francis MacDogall and I invented Video Gesture Control back in the mid 1980’s, pioneered, and evangelized it over the last 25 years and invented 3D depth camera video gesture control ( the technology the Kinect is based on in 2000 ) and have been creating products for these technologies all along ( see: http://www.gesturetek.com ) We licensed some of those technologies and patents to Microsoft specifically for the XBOX Video Gesture Control. But we also invented Video Gesture Control to be something you could step into for a live interactive music video. I start performing in these worlds back in 1986.
