  1. I’ve been watching the hangouts for a while now. I really hope Google improves on the toolset for hangout. They should be working with people like you to see where improvements can be made. Tools like have a person in charge of the hangout so you can mute everyone and then you can unmute as you go through the presentations. And a quick kick so you can boot the people without a project to show off.
And I really hope you don’t need to go to some kind of screening process to find out if people actually have a project for show and tell.
Maybe Google can add a feature for "watcher only" vs "potential presenter". I can see a lot of value in that for business applications as well.
Anyways, lots of cools stuff going on out there. Nice work everyone.

  2. Would it be possible to not direct people to the hangout but rather to a page with two big idiot buttons, one saying “I have a project to show off” and another saying “I want to watch”? I don’t expect it would completely stop hangers-on but it might reduce the problem a little.

  3. Here ya go: http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2011/10/03/new-way-to-do-show-and-tell-add-yourself-on-google/

Please sign up for the show and tell before hand.
