NEW PRODUCT – Beagle USB 12 Protocol Analyzer. Remember when Adafruit reverse engineered the Kinect, put it up on GitHub and made an open-source driver bounty? That was a lot of fun and now we are stocking our FAVORITE tool for projects like that.

USB complexity got you down? Need a hand with enumeration? Reverse engineering a USB device? You will fall in love with the Beagle 12 USB Analyzer. This hardware analyzer is completely non-intrusive, and is much better than flaky software analyzers. Perfect for when a problem is bad enough it crashes the USB host, or for real time data capture analysis. We used the big-sister version (the Beagle 480) for our famous Open Kinect reverse-engineering bounty! It worked so well we decided to carry these in the shop.

The best part about this hardware analyzer is the excellent cross-platform software that runs equally well on Windows, Mac and Linux. Data is captured in real time, saved and parsed. Its trivial to sort through data to find the packet you’re looking for. We even have a tutorial on how we did it so you can follow our steps in using the Beagle 12’s Data Center Software

This particular model is good for Low-Speed & Full-Speed USB debugging. If you’re debugging something that runs at High Speed (such as video or other high speed data transport devices), check out the Beagle 480.

    It is great to see you carrying a TotalPhase product. I have had one of these USB Protocol analyzers for several years. I have been very happy with it and the software mprovements that have been made to the Date Center software over that time. I highly recomment tohis to anyone working with USB devices.

  2. I can second the SW for this being very good, and nice to see it in the shop here. It’s a bit of a specialty item and not something you pull off the shelf every day, but if you’re doing much USB development or hacking it’s invaluable. I bought one primarily for USB Host to be able to capture the initialization sequences of different devices just to make it easier to get them working on embedded devices with USB Host … but found it useful debugging USB Device as well.
