DorkbotPDX PCBs

DorkbotPDX PCB’s @ The Custom Geek. Jeremy writes –

Hi fellow geekerities! Wanted to share the work of our friend Laen at DorkbotPDX. I ask him if I could make this post and he was in favor of it 🙂

Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.

  1. I’ve lost track of how many PCBs I’ve run through Laen’s service, both prototype and production. The more people know it exists, the more people we get using it, and the better the service gets. He’s up to 2-3 panels a week now (started at every other week…), and the design rules are way better than pretty much any other batch order out there (though I’ve been fighting a little with a board I have that uses even tighter rules). Turn-around (~2wks) is slower than it was initially, but that’s a pricing issue since copper/$ skyrocketed. I’m gonna see if he’s up for adding a more expensive fast turn-around panel though.
