“Woohoo. My #raspberrypi tells me I have a new email. Thanks to the #adafruit learning system” #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi
Raspberry Pi’s popularity make things so easy that it is almost scary. We set forth on a simple starter project of having the raspberry pi show us when new gmail messages arrive. After some searching it seems that lots of people are already talking about how to do this and there are some great examples. Michael over at MitchTech had the most ready to go code which I pilfered from. Adafruits Cobbler Breakout Kit makes the bread board experience even easier with the clearly labeled pins for each of raspi’s GPIOs.
These are the things we had to setup in order to get a working raspberry pi + gmail + adafruit cobbler. You can probably get yourself up and running with this same setup in less than 30 minutes! …
Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
