Mary Jungman joins Adafruit – Director of Manufacturing and Procurement, please give her a warm welcome!

Hi all, my name is Mary Jungman and I am thrilled to be joining Adafruit as Director of Manufacturing and Procurement. While white smoke and crowds did not mark the occasion for me, I could not have received a warmer welcome from the team.

A few years ago, my boss at chumby industries, bunnie Huang, introduced me to the world of DIY electronics, the maker movement, hacking, open source hardware/software and to Adafruit, who became a chumby customer. Prior to chumby, I worked in contract manufacturing, building circuit cards for San Diego customers, from the time when SMT was a new technology and 1206 components were considered tiny. At chumby I was a hardware girl living in a software world.

After chumby and for the last 15 months I was back in a hardware-centric world, working at littleBits Electronics, where I have been inspired by Ayah Bdeir, and become passionate about bringing change to our failing education system.

I believe all roads have led me to Adafruit where I will have the opportunity to help make products that will get kids excited about science and technology.

When I am not buying parts or building boards, I am hanging out with my family. With an engi-nerd for a husband, four boys (9, 10, 11 & 12 yrs), and two dogs (2 years and a 4 month old puppy), there is never a dull moment.
