kinetic sound sculpture in abandoned chemical tank

zimoun-329-designboom03

Swiss-based installation art studio studio zimoun in collaboration with architect Hannes Zweifel created this automated architecture/instrument inside an abandoned chemical tank in Switzerland. Using a series of DC-motors to mechanically beat 329 cotton balls against the hollow drum of the tank.  The results are both cacophonous and soothing in their consistency.
