OLED installation in Kuala Lumpur club

OLEDs (organic LEDs) have some significant advantages over traditional LEDs: They can be made on bendable substrates, are cooler to operate, and have a large light-emitting area. They’ve already gained popularity in displays. So what’s holding OLEDs back from use as a light source? Their two big drawbacks are high cost and short lifetime:  Each Philips Lumiblade, the product used in the installation shown above, is about 3½ inches square, has a lifetime of 10,000 hours, and costs about $168 each in quantities of 100. So far the most impressive applications for OLEDs are in public or private venue installations, such as this one in a nightclub in Kuala Lumpur.
