The purpose of the soft chair is to create an object that give the sensation to sink in an hole sitting on it. We used leather and EPS plastic balls as a soft filling. The shape is an experiment of parametric design, meshing a complex form to achieve an easier way to stitch it. Every triangle is different from the others and the pieces are cutted with a numerical control machine.
Sink chair is an ongoing experiment of digital manufacturing which focuses on fabrication and assembly of researched design outputs using our CNC cutting machines. The chair is an example of optimization in materials and costs using computational techniques. the chair is reversible and made of cardboard, foam and leather.
