The Smithsonian made news last year with the announcement that it was beginning to scan and preserve elements of its collection digitally. Well, several of these models are now available at the Smithsonian X 3D site for online visitors to navigate, explore, and manipulate — ending the era of “do not touch”: Smithsonian X 3D: Navigate, Explore and Manipulate 3D Models from the World’s Largest Museum:
