Close Up of the Moon, A Look at Lunar Orbit, ca. 1966 – ca. 1971

Scope & Content: This film provides, through animation and live action sequences, an overview of the aims of the Lunar Orbiter program, and describes in detail the mechanics of the satellite’s photographic operation — the shooting, storing, and subsequent transmitting back to Earth photographs of the moon. The film also provides an explanation of the navigational control of the Lunar Orbiter.
