From the Forums: Giant Creature for Comicon 2014, Powered by Adafruit!!

fxmech shared an update about a tremendous (both meanings) project for Comicon 2014 in the Adafruit Forums. Last year, staff and community alike noticed the use of Adafruit electronic components in the WIRED Giant Robot at Comicon 2013. Well, we were blown away to learn about this year’s even more challenging project:

For weeks we have been working on this build of a 14ft tall creature for Comicon 2014. Pretty much every electronic device was built around Adafruit products so I thought it appropriate to share here. I haven’t watched the video series so I don’t know what got edited out but I spoke a ton in the raw footage about Adafruit products used in the build…. ENJOY!

WIRED How to Make a Giant Creature Video Series

Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
