In the final part of our series on hyperaccumulators, we take a look at those who go above and beyond the call of duty by helping people clean up the nastiest of pollutants: solvents, hydrocarbons, and radionuclides. I’ve worked with the BTEX family before (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes) and they are no joke. Major props to the white rot fungus on that one. And could you ask for a better beacon of hope than the sunflower?
