UPDATE: the New American Public Art crew contacted us to mention an attribution for #kongorilla — they are still in the process of documenting the project and are eager to include the attributions to Kongorilla for the model that they modified for the mask itself: “we will be making this media soon, and will attribute and acknowledge everything properly!”

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.

Looks really cool, but once again, it’s artists using my design without attribution/acknowledgement. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:32189
Do they know/care that the mask was released under a license?
A German artist contacted me a over a year ago, asking permission to do exactly this (projection mapping on a large version of the mask), which I granted. I’d feel better had “New American Public Art” done the same.
We want you to know, we are in the process of documenting/attributing everything appropriately, in accordance with the CC license. This was our intent from the beginning, as we are also believers in & advocates of Open Source. With superquick project turnarounds, documentation and share-alike actions don’t always get implemented as quickly as we’d like. We would love to move as fast as the internet. Sadly, we are only human and doing the best we can.
I’ve been contacted by NAPA, and they are moving quickly to fulfill the terms of the license, so, it’s all good. Lesson is, if you’re using someone else’s licensed work publicly, _contact them first!_
