SMA Solar Technology South Africa opened their brand new multimillion rand manufacturing facility in Cape Town, that will create many jobs and includes the transfer of skills to local workers.
The manufacturing plant includes a solar power inverter assembly production line, a quality test centre, warehousing as well as the SMA Solar Academy training centre where skills transfer will take place.
This investment by SMA Solar Technology, a company that is headquartered in Germany, will be a significant portion of the green economy’s contribution to the Trade and Investment South Africa (Tisa) investment pipeline of R60bn in 2013/14, another R27bn in investments has already chalked up for 2014/15 with more expected.
