If you grew up with computers in the early 90’s you might have been exposed to the demoscene and its amazing combination of artistic talent and programming skill. Demos are small demonstrations of graphics programming, art, and music which together form an amazing piece of art that is created in real-time on a computer. NVScene is a modern demoscene party that’s meant to bring to the US the excitement of the large European demoscene parties. This event will be a part of the GPU Technology Conference hosted by NVIDIA from March 17th-20th in San Jose, California.
If you’ve never seen a demo before, you can actually watch many of them as videos online, but remember all of these are actually programs that run and generate all the effects in real time! Some of my favorites are classic demos like Second Reality by Future Crew, fr-08: .the .product by Farbrausch, or more modern demos like the winner of the PC demo category at the Revision 2014 demoparty, Observatory by Cocoon.
