Think DSP – Introduction to Signal Processing Using Python

microcontrollers_fft_example

Allen Downey’s book Think DSP is available to read free in HTML or PDF forms and is a good overview of signal processing using the Python programming language.  Allen has a whole series of books about programming Python on specific topics like statistics, algorithms, and more.  I really enjoyed Think Stats, and skimming Think DSP it appears to be a quite nice intro to signal processing.  If you’ve ever wondered how things like digital audio filters work or what you can do with an FFT this is a great resource to check out.

Don’t forget there are some fun FFT / DSP-based guides to check out in the learning system, like FFT: Fun with Fourier Transforms, FreqShow, and the Ampli-tie project.

Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
