No Need To Wait At Home For Packages With An Internet Doorbell #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

Ahmed Khattab made this really helpful internet doorbell with Raspberry Pi that allows you to speak to the person at the door through your phone if you aren’t home.

I have made a wireless internet connected doorbell. When a
person rings your doorbell, it can:
· Call your phone as an intercom
· Text you
· Email you with a photo with the person who is at your door
· Send a message with hangouts
A log of when your doorbell was pressed
· Tweet you
· Live stream HD video locally and on YouTube

The doorbell is perfect if you miss a delivery and you were not at home and
prevents you from waiting at home for someone to knock at your door. Notify
you of who is at your door and could even be used as a security measure to
catch criminals.

This project is very simple to build, just flash the SD card image, connect
a camera, microphone and an LCD. All you need is an internet connection.

This project has the potential for world benefit as it can reduce the amount
of missed deliveries or visitors. You’ll also be able to log doorbell
presses, so you can prove that the courier you’ve waited for all day really
did just stick the “sorry you were out” card through the letterbox without
even trying the bell.
This project can be sold as a kit to build for the hackers and tinkerers or
a premade solution who like the service and novelty of the idea.

The project can also be developed into a security solution and use motion
detection, detect window shattering or use PIR sensor, it could take a photo
and send it to Gmail as evidence to the police. It can be further used as a
very cheap CCTV solution where it livestreams to YouTube and can have
YouTube save the recordings where they can be accessed from anywhere.

This project has a great commercial benefit as it can be sold to every
household and can be used in large businesses. This could also be
commercially be sold as a security solution.
