Check out this preview video of reverse engineering the protocol for a Bluetooth low energy controlled light bulb. Using the Bluefruit LE sniffer I can spy on commands sent by the light bulb’s control app and reverse engineer the protocol for controlling the bulb. After I have the protocol figured out it’s easy to control the light myself, like cycling it through all the colors using a Raspberry Pi and Bluetooth low energy USB stick.
