WHAT: The LA Makerspace Presents the Adventurers’ Club: Build a Hydrophone/Contact Mic!
WHERE: UCLA Interpretive Media Lab
1947 Baker St
Los Angeles, CA 90012
WHEN: Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (PDT)
EVENT DETAILS: Based on KitHub’s innovative Adventurers’ Club kit, and led by LA Makerspace/KitHub founder (and frequent White House family making advisor) Tara Tiger Brown, you’ll build and take home two kinds of microphones:
A contact mic, which senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects. The recordings from the mic can be used to make music and sound art: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee4wCvEGZF8
A hydrophone, which records underwater: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=754pqkdorhs
Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
