Today is Force Friday! This is the day all the new merchandise for the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens is being unveiled. From toys, to books, to clothing, to costumes — Disney and Lucasfilm have a wide range of products flooding into the market. One of the reveals that made me the happiest was seeing that costumes belonging to two of the female characters in the movie — Rey and Captain Phasma — are part of the initial release. In the past, it’s been a bit of a struggle to get merchandise that represents the women of the saga. Disney only recently started offering Princess Leia costumes in their stores. Given that history, it’s exciting to see Phasma and Rey being included upfront. Other The Force Awakens costumes include Kylo Ren and a First Order stormtrooper. You can leave them as is or take these costumes and modify them for your younglings.
