Hand-Painted Effie Trinket Butterfly Dress from Catching Fire
Effie Trinket’s costumes in The Hunger Games books and films are works of art. Her fashion choices are actually a symbol of the extravagance of the lives of the citizens in the Capitol, so they’re especially designed to be over the top. In Catching Fire, Effie wears a dress covered in the wings of monarch butterflies. Faden Design Studios re-created the look by hand-painting approximately seven dozen faux butterfly wings to match the ones seen on screen. She used almost 800 faux butterfly wings total. Yep. The dress has a detachable collar and a separate hair fascinator. It’s gorgeous.
