The thought of formally introducing myself has actually left me at a loss of words. Speaking about myself does that to me and anything contrived wouldn’t be me. But here I am, K. Smith; writer, producer, photographer, and all around creative. You’re not supposed to start sentences with but, but so what.
I’ve only been a part of the Adafruit family for a few months now and everyday has been an inspiration for the next. Right now I program, test and prep in Fab. That’s Fab short for Fabrication or Fabulous. Learning how to solder might be one of my favorite things about working in the Fabrication department. This is all new for me and i’m excited about this journey, to cultivate new skills and apply them to my personal life.
While in real life I’ve been known to be recluse; enjoying long walks on the internet, the linger behind awkward moments and people watching, I hope to share with you the extrovert soul that compliments my introvert spirit. Coming from a social welfare and a behavioral science background I hope my experiences translate in the perspectives and articles I’ll share.
I look forward to being a contributor on Adafruit’s blog sharing stories of the women and minorities impacting engineering culture and society.
Be Good, Be Great.
K. Smith

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat – we’ll post the link there.
