Nominate an iconic woman to appear on Canada’s new bank note!
The Bank of Canada is hosting a campaign to nominate an iconic Canadian woman appear on a new bank note.
On 8 March 2016, International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister of Finance Bill Morneau announced that a new polymer bank note featuring an iconic Canadian woman will be issued in late 2018.
The Bank of Canada is inviting the public to nominate women from Canada’s past who are deserving of this recognition.
Our open call for nominations is now under way and will close on 15 April 2016.
Nominees will be considered if they meet the following criteria:
They are a Canadian (by birth or naturalization) who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, achievement or distinction in any field, benefiting the people of Canada, or in the service of Canada.
They have been deceased for at least 25 years.
Submissions of fictional characters will not be considered.
