Katharina Kastian, also known as Cyehra, is a prolific cosplayer who happens to be exceptionally skilled at crafting armor from foam. She used those skills to make a detailed, striking Batgirl costume based on the Play Arts Kai Batgirl from Square Enix. The armor is big and bold with sharp edges and detailed armor. Cyehra made it from the ground up including designing the pattern for the elaborate breastplate (you can see all the pieces of the template in a picture below). She used what looks like tons of tiny pieces of foam to assemble the armor. She recently published an ebook with her foamsmithing knowledge too; it’s available for purchase on her website.
See some in progress pics of the Batgirl costume below and check out more on Facebook.
