Jack Tripp took home top prizes at FantasyCon in Salt Lake a couple of years ago with his impressive Thorin Oakenshield ensemble. His cosplay was inspired the by the one Thorin wears in The Hobbit films. Melodywise Cosplay worked on the build including sculpting and making leather gauntlets and painting dozens of plates for the armor. It didn’t just take a single coat of paint either, achieving the metallic look required paint and brushing on metallic finishes. You can the armor in the below pictures.
