Open Source Beehives Incorporate Smart Citizen Platform for #IoT Hive Monitoring #IoTuesday #CitizenScience

Over a year ago Open Source Beehives were crowdfunded on Indiegogo – see their successful campaign here. They’ve been moving forward with development ever since and while beehives and beehive designs are nothing new, the OSBeehives project does interestingly incorporate – the proper word is “adapt” – the Smart Citizen platform directly for beehive monitoring. Their hive designs include a more-common stack style design named Barcelona Warre Hive, and their most recent design the Colorado Top Bar – the video below contains a timelapse of the CNC routing of the latter hive style’s construction components along with assembly (pictured). The project website is here and complete, open-source documentation can be found here and here on GitHub.
