Homemade BB-8 Body Made from Fiberglassed Globe #StarWars
Rimstar has been building a homemade BB-8 droid and in this step of the project he details how he built the main body of the bot from a standard cardboard globe covered in multiple layers of fiberglass and resin. Particularly brilliant are those layers of fiberglass, applied overlapping the surface of the globe to increase their overall strength, and the ‘valley’ gap found using a cut-out piece of cardboard (2nd image below). Watch the video below for full detail of all the steps.
Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
