X-Ray of a TMS9900NL 64-pin DIP IC

X-Ray of a 64-pin plastic package TMS9900NL 16-bit processor.

The package is about 3.25 inches long. The square in the centre is a metal plate that the actual chip is glued to. You can just about make out the outline of the chip. Tiny, ultra fine wires (‘bond wires’) connect between the chip and the metal lead frame.
