Homemade ‘LED Matrix Handbag’ Version 2.0 uses Bluefruit LE #WearableWednesday #Bluetooth
This. Is. Rad!
Debra from Geek Mom Projects has an extensive update to the LED Matrix Handbag – now at version 2.0, this one incorporates a custom flexible LED matrix, a cleverly designed vinyl or leather panel of sorts for the matrix to fit into, and a handmade handbag just because she’s awesome with the sewing machine too! Not only is all the code provided but with both the electronics and the sewing there are some really insightful tips & tricks suggested along the way, should you decide to fork this project or customize it for your own needs (I’m thinking backpack display for crowd-based bicycle journeys!).
Adafruit DotStar Digital LED Strip – Black 60 LED – Per Meter – BLACK: Move over NeoPixels, there’s a new LED strip in town! These fancy new DotStar LED strips are a great upgrade for people who have loved and used NeoPixel strips for a few years but want something even better. DotStar LEDs use generic 2-wire SPI, so you can push data much faster than with the NeoPixel 800 KHz protocol and there’s no specific timing required. They also have much higher PWM refresh rates, so you can do Persistence-of-Vision (POV) and have less flickering, particularly at low brightness levels. Read more.
Adafruit Feather M0 Bluefruit LE: Feather is the new development board from Adafruit, and like its namesake it is thin, light, and lets you fly! We designed Feather to be a new standard for portable microcontroller cores. This is the Adafruit Feather M0 Bluefruit LE – our take on an ‘all-in-one’ Arduino-compatible + Bluetooth Low Energy with built in USB and battery charging. Its an Adafruit Feather M0 with a BTLE module, ready to rock! Read more.
Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
