Stunning Snow White and the Huntsman Ravenna Costume Took Hundreds of Hours to Make

Whatever your opinion of the substance of the Snow White and the Huntsman films, it’s hard to ignore the quality of the costumes. The overall production design is beautiful, actually, but the costumes in particular stand out — especially the dresses worn by Ravenna, the Evil Queen in this story. Beverly Downen of Downen Creative Studios channeled the character with her epic build of Ravenna’s golden dress.

Beverly debuted the dress, which took hundreds of hours of work, at Rose City Comic Con. She says:

There’s 2500 individually painted gold lame` feathers that comprise this cape. I disagree. It’s got to be over 3000. Yes, each feather handmade and hand-painted.

The cape was so well done that a graphic artist from The Huntsman: Winter’s War praised her efforts in crafting a cape based on something that was strictly CGI in the film.

It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
