Jim recently tweeted at me a demo video of his latest animatronic project. It’s freaking amazing!

Here’s a quick list of the parts he used to build it. It’s quite an impressive project.

prt count: 8 servos 6 micro, 2 metal), 16 neopixels, 2 unos, 1 pro trinket, wav shield, servo shield, wing shields, pots, switches

A curious soul on twitter, @PatrickAThompsn, asked him how it works, and Jim responded with screenshots of cross sections of his design.

Make a robot friend with Adafruit’s CRICKIT – A Creative Robotics & Interactive Construction Kit. It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.
