Bioavailability – Tumeric only contains 3% curcumin by weight and it does not absorb easily into the blood stream. Taking 2-4g daily of a 95% pure extract of curcumin in supplement form combined with piperine (a pepper extract) can boost bioavailability by 20x. Adding a fat source such as a fish oil supplement can boost absorption by another 9x.
Supplement Quality – Curcuminoid content and insect parts are the two most common things to look out for with this supplement.
Supplements to Consider:
Both of these supplements claim high curcuminoid content, high absorption and have been 3rd party tested. They were found to be within 5% of claimed extract quantity. They also are reasonably priced.
