For our submission to the Internet of Voice Competition 2016 we turned a raspberry pi into a secure apache web server in order to direct Amazon Alexa requests towards it. We developed a system that makes Alexa requests communicate with a Node-Red server on the pi creating a powerful, drag and drop development platform for Amazon Alexa and Raspberry Pi for Smart Home use. We also integrated Amazon Voice Services onto our phone to make commands from mobile devices. To demonstrate our platform we created a fitness system allowing users to log workouts and play music off of the pi. In addition, we are able to get user sleep and current fitness stats using a Fitbit Flex with the Fitbit API.
