Backyard Brains has put out an Open Hardware EEG/EKG Arduino shield called Heart & Brain. It ships as a complete kit with electrode patches,, electrode gel and headband. This kit is notable for three reasons:
BackYard Brains is seriously dedicated to open source. The shield schematics, arduino code and spiker visualization PC prog and iOS app are all provided.
There are not many EEG/EKG’s that can come in at this price range ($150) and show a usable data stream.
Most EEG and EKG options have been designed to communicate directly to computers and phones apps. This kit is going through an Arduino so controlling real world motors, relays and lights can be done without a computer.
