Benjamin Franklin came up with 13 virtues which he tracked daily. His system was elegant using only a single piece of paper per week. He would put a letter for each day of the week across the top row and have thirteen letters representing each virtue in the first column. Each day a black dot would be put in place for a virtue that he failed to properly uphold. Mr. Franklin could then review his week visually and see which virtues he needed to focus on for self improvement.
