What is TechShop?
TechShop is a chain of membership-based fabrication workshops that provide our members with access to tools, equipment, instruction, and a community of creative and supportive people so they can build the things they have always wanted to make.

Director of Community Engagement and Business Development — Brooklyn, NY
DESCRIPTION:
We seek a charismatic individual who brings a genuine passion for accelerating the pace of innovation, entrepreneurism, and STEAM learning within Brooklyn and the greater NYC area, as well as a deep knowledge of the local business and civic communities, and experience closing deals ranging from $50K to $750K/year. Success in this position requires achieving financial goals in the form of sales agreements with supporting partners, membership signups and class registrations.
This position has twin areas of responsibility: (1) Community Engagement and (2) Business Development.
Community Engagement
Will engage the greater Brooklyn maker community to create awareness and build support for TechShop Brooklyn among makers, artists, students, teachers, DIY enthusiasts, hackers, hardware startups, incubators, and local supporting suppliers and vendors.
Business Development
Will develop partnerships with corporations, foundations, and civic and institutional partners for the purpose of gaining financial support for TechShop Brooklyn in the form of commitments for memberships and training services. A partner’s commitment to purchase membership/training packages can be for their own employees or as “scholarships” for deserving communities such as veterans, high school students, minority entrepreneurs, or under- employed individuals seeking experience and skill development.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skill set:
Excellent knowledge of the Brooklyn maker community
Extensive network of key influencers
4 to 6 years of B2B sales experience (local market preferred)
Experience with engaging C-level decision makers
Extensive experience in sales pipeline management and reporting
Razor sharp sales presentation, proposal writing, and communication technique
