The Continuing Legacy of Maria Goeppert Mayer | #WHM17 #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSTEM

The second woman to receive the Nobel Prize in physics, Maria Goeppert Mayer worked on the Manhattan Project, and her research eventually lead to our understanding of the shell model of the atomic nucleus.

The Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award was created posthumously in her honor, the full list of recipients since 1986 can be found here.
