This Is What Happens When You Offer a Custom 3d Printed Jacket #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #3dprinting #fashion

My friends at ElektroCouture gave me a heads up that designer Danit Peleg has launched a site where you can customize your own limited 3D printed jacket. I just explored the tools and came up with this combo for the bomber style using purple filament with a mandarin lining. If you are having a hard time picturing the comfort of 3D printing in the form of fabric, be assured that this is flexible filament, not the hard plastic you are used to seeing for the popular figure of “Baby Groot”. Along with choosing colors, you have the option to get a small (5 letter) word printed on the back of the jacket, as shown by Danit.

A post on Instagram reveals Gerber Technology as a partner providing AccuMark pattern making and Yunique PLM, which is a product lifecycle management software that works with Adobe Illustrator. Honestly, the software being used is equally exciting as the finished product. As someone that recently downloaded the Stylebook app on my phone, I can tell you that the ability to import clothing images and arrange them to your liking is very helpful. We are witnessing a new phase in fashion with better design and manufacturing tools, leaving materials and sustainability as the final frontier. Keep pushing for green filaments and we’ll get there.
