How to Make Fuzzy Headphones That Will Startle People #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #Arduino #DIY

I’ve seen cat eared headphones and light-up headphones, but never furry, ear-twitching light-up headphones. Of course Caitlinsdad has decided to create a pair and they are adorable! This bundle of fur is powered with an Adafruit Circuit Playground microcontroller, while short Neopixel strips add colorful glow. The movement is handled by servos and responds to beats thanks to the built-in mic on the microcontroller. It’s really a cute project for tweens, and cosplayers may even get other ideas for uses. Sewing fans will have a good time customizing the animal features to create their fave creature.

If you would like to create your own headphones, check out our learning guide for Ampli-tie—a tie that works like a VU meter by showing sound levels with LEDs. Caitlinsdad was able to use this code to create the responsive lights and ears for his project. Of course you can always just create a tie if you have a special occasion coming up. Notice that the project uses a separate microphone, but since Circuit Playground already has one, you just need to make some tweaks to the code to get things working. Make sure you send us a video of your fuzzy craft!
