Almost 10 years ago when Limor and I were planning out what we wanted to do together with Adafruit, we had “DUNE BOX” in a list of subscription box ideas (after the Adafruit one, which is now called ADABOX). In that list was WATCHMEN and of course Transmetropolitan. The idea was a magazine/comic, etc. along with things to make/cosplay, for Transmet, cool glasses, I really just want a pair of those. Back when I started hackaday, I wanted to do a monthly hackbox’ too, then at MAKE, move it to a magazine every 3 months that comes with a kit/project in the box like the GAKKEN mooks’ (magazine+book). ADABOX became a reality, but doing something like DUNE or WATCHMEN or TRANSMET isn’t possible for us, for someone to do this and to be part of the community that reads along is special and since we do not need to do all the work, but can appreciate what goes in to it, even more so.
What comicbookgirl19 is doing is a lot of work, a lot of effort, a lot of really caring about the people who have made these stories and art their own, pick up a WATCHMEN club box and join the future of book clubs (live video reading, community and more).
Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
Have an amazing project to share? The Electronics Show and Tell is every Wednesday at 7pm ET! To join, head over to YouTube and check out the show’s live chat – we’ll post the link there.
