Solarbotics acquired ActiveTech last June (2017). Just saw this now –

As of June 7, 2017, Active-Tech Calgary is now under the ownership of Solarbotics Ltd.!

Solarbotics has been a part of the Calgary DIY Electronics community for over 22 years, manufacturing and reselling the kits, parts and pieces you use for your own creations. Active-Tech Calgary has been around slightly longer, supplying industrial electronics & test equipment.

We’re excited to be blending the offerings of both companies in this new retail venture. Going forward, Solarbotics / Active-Tech Calgary will be substantially increasing our in-store and online offerings, making this store your go-to destination for your electronics project solutions!

They’re having a moving sale this week until April 30, 2018.

It’s an add-on to our popular Circuit Playground Express, FEATHER and other platforms to make and program robots with CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. Start controlling motors, servos, solenoids. You also get signal pins, capacitive touch sensors, a NeoPixel driver and amplified speaker output. It complements & extends your boards so you can still use all the goodies on the microcontroller, now you have a robotics playground as well.

  1. Hmm interesting, I’ve been to the Ottawa one since then and didn’t notice anything different. I wonder if it is somehow separate..
