California-based STEM-education startup GoldieBlox has added a former DreamWorks Animation and American Girl Co. executive to its team as it shifts its focus away from toy manufacturing and into entertainment and media licensing.
Shawn Dennis has joined the company as its president where she will be in charge of expanding revenue, product, entertainment, licensing and strategic partnerships. She will continue to sit on the company’s board of directors where she has served since 2016.
“When I first met Shawn four years ago, I was in awe of her deep understanding of how to inspire and engage young girls and parents,” GoldieBlox Founder and CEO Debbie Sterling said in a statement. “I instantly knew I had found my ideal mentor and I (not so secretly) hoped she might one day join our team full time.”
